Welsh rock star Bonnie Tyler said she would never tire of singing Total Eclipse Of The Heart when she received her MBE at Windsor Castle.
The 71-year-old’s ballad was released 40 years ago, but she says she’s extremely lucky to be able to perform the hit song – along with her other cult hit, Holding Out For A. Hero.
Tyler, who received the honor from the Prince of Wales on Wednesday, told the PA news agency: “A lot of people ask me if you’re bored of singing it, but no way, I love it and everyone does. it. is a classic karaoke.
She added that she never expected to be awarded the MBE, but didn’t think twice about receiving it.
She said: ‘I never thought I would get something like this, my parents would be so proud.
“Being nominated for a Grammy is great, but being awarded an MBE for something I really love has been a highlight of my career.”
The musician, Gaynor Sullivan, born in Skewen, Wales, has been an ambassador for the Prince of Wales’ foundation for several years, and met Prince William and his family at Cardiff Castle last year.
She said she didn’t expect the prince to be a fan of her music, but recalled a “lovely gesture” from their first meeting.
She added: “When I was giving a concert in Cardiff for the Queen’s Celebration, the Prince of Wales came with Catherine and the kids and he said he had played some of the music by I’m on my way to let them know who they are. are meeting.”
When the Prince of Wales gave Tyler the MBE, she said they had an interesting conversation about her music career.
She said: “What I love about it is that Prince William just had this big smile, he asked me about the tour and said it was nice to see me again.”
Tyler has released more than 15 albums during her five decades in the music industry and added that she has no plans to slow down.
“I have been very fortunate in my life to work with some of the best producers and musicians in the world,” she said.
