Bono will publish his memoir, entitled Surrender, this November, his publisher has announced.
Although the U2 frontman has been in the spotlight for 40 years, it will be the first time the musician has written extensively about his life in person.
The book details his beginnings growing up in Dublin through to the international success of U2 and the charity work he has done ever since.
The subtitle of the book 40 songs, one storyrefers to the fact that it will contain 40 chapters, each one named after a U2 song.
Bono also created 40 original drawings to accompany each chapter.
The editor, Penguin Random House, said: “With candor, self-reflection and humor Bono opens the door to his life – and to his family, his friends and his faith, which carried him, challenged him and shaped him.”
Bono said of his memoirs: “When I started writing this book, I hoped to be able to draw in detail what I had previously only sketched in song.

“The people, places and opportunities in my life. Devotion is a word full of meaning to me. Growing up fists (musically speaking) raised in Ireland in the 70’s it wasn’t a natural concept.”
He added that the book is “a tale of one pilgrim’s lack of progress… with a lot of fun along the way.”
