Bono finally revealed why he wore his tinted glasses in 2014, saying it was to treat glaucoma.

He was on The Graham Norton Show with his bandmates to promote their free online album Songs of Innocence.

“This is a good place to explain to people that I’ve had glaucoma for the past 20 years. I have good treatments and I’ll be fine,” the singer said.

After assuring fans, Bono will be able to find whatever he’s looking for.

Glaucoma is a common eye condition that can lead to vision loss if left untreated and is “usually caused by fluid build-up in the front part of the eye, increasing pressure inside the eye”.

It can affect people of any age, but is most common in people in their 70s and 80s.

Bono later quipped: “Now you won’t get this out of your head and you’ll say, ‘Ah, poor old blind Bono.'”

Bono’s glaucoma isn’t the only health issue that has worried fans in recent years, and he previously spoke to NME about the death of a brush.

The fear of health is said to be the inspiration for the album Songs of Experience, released in 2017.

He says the experience is somewhat similar to problems he’s had before, although “not quite to this extent”. However, the singing star explained that he didn’t “want to go into the details of it”.

U2 guitarist The Edge added: “It’s serious enough that he really has a big fear. But the place that takes him as a writer is a great place.”

Thankfully, after this experience and a 2015 bike accident, Bono says he’s reevaluated things in regards to his health.

He added: “I really enjoy being alive and I’m pretty good at being alive, which means I want to enjoy the best of the day. That was the first time I put my shoulder on the door and it didn’t open.

“I feel God whispering to me, ‘Next time, try knocking on the door, or just try the handle. Don’t use your shoulder because you will break it. “
