Queen’s Jubilee: Boris Johnson arrives at St Paul’s Cathedral
Boris Johnson was booed as he attended the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee thanksgiving service today.
Crowds of people could be heard booing and whistling as the Prime Minister walked up the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral with his wife Carrie, although there were also cheers from some onlookers.
A BBC royal correspondent said: “The Prime Minister arrives with his wife. There’s quite a bit of booing. A significant amount.”
The Queen is celebrating the second day of her Platinum Jubilee today, culminating in a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral attended by senior royals and politicians.

Other family members are also expected to be in attendance, including Prince Harry and Meghan, followed by a reception at the Guildhall.
As the four-day celebrations continued, the 96-year-old monarch withdrew from today’s duty due to ongoing mobility issues and experienced “some discomfort” during Trooping the Color and the RAF flypast.
Officials said the journey from Windsor Castle, where she spends most of her time, to London and the activities involved for the service was too much and a regrettable but sensible decision had been made.

A palace source said it had always been the Queen’s hope that she would attend, rather than a firm commitment.
A statement released on Thursday evening said: “The Queen thoroughly enjoyed today’s birthday parade and flyby but had a few complaints.
“Taking into account the travel and activities required to attend tomorrow’s National Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty has concluded with great reluctance that she will not attend.”
She won’t be the only absence. Prince Andrew has tested positive for Covid-19 and will also miss the service, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said on Thursday.
