The Prime Minister said: “Cabinet concludes that due to the extraordinary intensification of the campaign, coupled with how the public has reacted to the Plan B measures, we can go back to Plan A in the UK and allow the provisions of Plan B expire.”

The current rules expire on January 26 which means the changes will begin on Thursday morning.

In the main developments:

  • PM endure a bruised PMQs when a Tory MP defected to Labor
  • Masks will be removed in class tomorrow as revealed by The Sun
  • Self-isolation rules to expire on March 24, PM says
  • Mr Johnson says Omicron has now “peaked nationally”
  • BoJo warns of boosters will be increasingly necessary for international travel

Mr Johnson gleefully praised the success of the ramp-up campaign that has allowed him to tear down nearly all remaining curbs.

The Sun’s Jabs Army volunteers worked heroically to help speed the deployment process.

Mr Johnson also feels vindicated for resisting calls from enemies to impose tougher measures as Omicron surges over Christmas.

The Prime Minister told MPs: “Many countries across Europe have suffered further winter lockdowns… While we must continue to be cautious, the data shows that this government has time after time having to make the most difficult decisions.”

He pointed out that Covid cases are falling as experts increasingly believe that the country has passed the hump of Omicron.

While “significant pressure on the NHS” remains, the Prime Minister said hospital admissions have now stabilized and are even falling in London.

However, Mr Johnson is also believed to have ditched Plan B to appease the lockdown-hating rebels who are threatening to destroy his post as prime minister.

However, the Prime Minister denied this and to cheers: “Faced with the greatest national challenge since the Second World War and the worst pandemic since 1918, any government Every government is going to make some mistakes.”

“But this government has done great things right.”

Yesterday, the UK’s daily Covid cases were down 21% from last week.

There were 94,432 new cases in the last 24 hours, with 438 deaths also recorded.

The death toll has increased over the past few days, but still not close to the level seen during last year’s Alpha peak of more than 1,000.

However, this is consistent with the pattern of the Covid wave – a few weeks from high cases, some overtime deaths will sadly more than catch up with those more severely affected with the virus. .

This time last week, there were 120,821 new daily cases recorded, as the country shows promising signs of the wave of variants having peaked. Boris Johnson SCRAPS face mask, work from home and vaccine passport due to Plan B restrictions REMOVED
