US AUDIO GIGANT Bose has introduced a new pair of in-ear headphones with the most powerful noise-cancelling technology you’ve ever heard.
At an event in New York on Thursday, the company unveiled the QuietComfort Earbuds II, competing against Apple, which just released the AirPods Pro 2.
The headphones take noise blocking to a whole new level and luckily The Sun was in town to try them out.
In a live demo, the brand showed how the buds can be switched to “silent mode” with a swipe of a finger to drown out a whole range of external noises, such as people and traffic.
The company even played a video of a tube car making loud screeching sounds, and the QuietComfort Earbuds II were able to block out the sounds entirely.
Bose says this improved noise-cancelling technology was made possible by something called CustomTune, a brand new sound calibration technology that’s able to tailor the earbuds’ audio and noise-cancelling to the unique shape of a person’s ear.
CustomTune calibrates the noise-canceling signal for your ears, targeting frequencies that were previously difficult to reduce, such as B. the voices of people on public transport.
The technology also constantly adapts to sounds as your environment changes to ensure it’s always performing at its best.
The design of the QuietComfort Earbuds II has also been revised since its predecessor, which was launched two years ago. They are now less bulky and much slimmer, fitting comfortably in the ear without protruding.
This is because the earbuds have been designed to not be just a minor update over previous earbuds created in the past.
Distinguished Bose engineer Dan Gauger told The Sun: “The QuietComfort Earbuds II are not a refinement of existing technology.
“Each headphone we’ve released since the original Quietcofmort earbuds in 2009 has found subtle differences in noise-cancelling technology, but this is a whole new generation.”
The charging case of the headphones has also been revised. It’s now more pocket-friendly – similar to the Apple AirPods.
As you’d expect, the QuietComfort Earbuds II are compatible with both Apple and Android devices and have an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance.
They’ll be available in the UK from September 29 for £279.95, but only in black color initially. An off-white “soapstone” color will also be available later in the year, the company said.
Pre-orders begin September 8th on the official Bose website.
