Software firm bosses have been praised by employees after giving each person a £1,500 pay raise to help them through the cost of living crisis.

Joel Beverley, James Lintern and David Brandon, co-founders of RotaCloud, said they wanted to ease the pressure of rising bills after a huge influx of price hikes last month.

Energy bills were the biggest hit to household bills last month after regulator Ofgem raised its price cap for those with typical use by £693 on April 1.

Families are also facing increased council tax bills, water bills, broadband and cellphone bills, and record high petrol and diesel prices.

In addition to rising bills, workers and employers are paying more into Social Security after a 1.25 percentage point increase.

The salary increase for RotaCloud took effect this month and will affect around 50 employees.

James Lintern, one of the co-founders of human resource management software provider RotaCloud, said: “We are all painfully aware of the rising cost of living, so as a company we wanted to help shoulder some of the pressure that everyone is feeling.

“As well as promotions and planned salary increases, we wanted to provide additional support to the whole team, so we have introduced a company-wide salary increase of £1,500, effective retrospectively from the beginning of the month.

“We wanted the pay rise to offer everyone a little bit of immediate relief and reassurance, and hopefully it will help combat some of the uncertainty that many of us are feeling right now.”

The move was welcomed by employees.

One employee said on LinkedIn: “Big thanks to RotaCloud who announced yesterday that every single one of their employees is getting a pay raise to help with the skyrocketing cost of living in the UK.

“The world needs more employers like this.”

Last month we reported on another hero engineering boss who gave each of his workers an extra £1,000 to help with the rising cost of living.

Fletcher Moorland chief executive Matt Fletcher passed the extra money on to 86 employees.

We also saw another boss give each of his workers £750 to pay their bills.

James Hipkins, 51, managing director of Emerys Timber and Builders Merchants, has spent a total of £45,000 on 60 employees.

Richard Stone, CEO of Stone Junction, has also awarded all his staff a £1,000 pay rise.
