Brand new Gogglebox family revealed after begging Scottish contributors

A whole new family has joined Gogglebox – the couple Joe, 25, and Roisin, 23. The pair are from Glasgow, Scotland and are the latest addition after a Channel 4 show calling for more Scottish collaborators

A brand new family from Scotland has joined Gogglebox – after the program launched a call for Scots to contribute.

The Channel 4 show was keen to have a Scottish family on the show and now couple Joe, 25, and Roisin, 23 – have moved into Joe’s house in Glasgow together during the lockdown – is the newest addition to the show.

Roisin and Joe will make their first appearance on tonight’s episode of Gogglebox, which airs at 9pm on Channel 4.

They – along with fan favorites including Jenny Newby and Lee Riley, sisters Izzi and Ellie Warner and siblings Pete and Sophie Sandiford – will record their thoughts on films like Love Is Blind , Starstruck, Cheaters, Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted, Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, Teen First Dates, Sunday Morning and BBC News.

On Twitter, Gogglebox shared the exciting news as fans rejoiced at the addition of a new family, as they wrote: “Meet our new Scots Roisin and Joe! See you on the sofas! for the brand new #Gogglebox TONIGHT, 9pm on @Channel4.”

“I just told her last night while she was watching a recorded episode that there are no Scots. Well done,” one cheerful fan wrote online, while a second added: “Just how many seasons to get Scots!”

Joe and Roisin are the first Scots couple to join the scheme – after bosses offered several Scottish families to join the programme.

The show wanted to add a Scottish family to the mix, and as their search increased, the pair pooled money on a dedicated cast of actors to find a Scottish family before the year was over.

“Ever since I met you, we’ve agreed a separate budget with Studio Lambert for a dedicated cast of actors tasked with the special task of finding a suitable Scottish family,” said Channel 4 chief executive Alex Mahon. told the Scottish Affairs Committee as MPs begged a Scottish family to take part in the popular show, “The casting period is already underway and will last until Christmas.”

Ms Mahon added in her letter to president Pete Wishart: “The ambition is to identify at least one Scottish family who will become part of the Gogglebox cast for the next series to air in the new year.”

Even Scotland’s Conservative Party leader, Douglas Ross, suggested he and his wife Krystle might be on the show, as he said: “I’m a huge fan of Gogglebox and my wife and I watch it weekly We can be part of it.”
