A huge fire broke out near two oil depots and a military facility in the center Russia after a suspected strike by Ukraine .

The fires followed massive explosions at the Druzhba oil depot in the city of Bryansk, where a military unit of the 120th Arsenal of the Main Directorate of Missiles and Artillery is located.

The Druzhba Pipeline operated by Transneft , is the longest oil pipeline in the world and one of the largest oil pipeline networks in the world.

The flames can be seen over the entire city of Bryansk. The Bryansk region borders Ukraine and the city is about 240 miles from Moscow.

The oil depot is likely to be crucial to supplying Russian troops as they advance to take control of the Donbass.

Residents were evacuated from homes near the burning oil depot.

The fires were not initially confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations

A fire was also reported at the military compound, but this has not been confirmed by the Russian authorities.

Russia’s Emergencies Ministry initially released details of a fire in areas of the military facility on Moskovsky Ave – but then withdrew them.

But the Telegram channel Voenny Osvedomitel reported that the second fire was believed to be in the 120th arsenal of the Main Directorate for Missiles and Artillery.

Oil storage tanks caught fire at the Bryansk oil depot, TASS reported earlier this morning.

“The Ministry of Emergencies has confirmed that there is a fire,” the government press office said.

“There’s also confirmation that it’s the fuel tanks.”

First aiders were on site.

The cause of the fire or fires was not initially confirmed.

Reports of the fire come just days after another major fire at the Second Central Research Institute of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation in Tver.

Footage showed the fire at the building on April 21, when a death toll of up to seven was reported.

But more recently it has been claimed that at least 25 people died, believed to include some of Russia’s leading rocket scientists.

Two days after the fire, the search was still going on in the rubble, it said. At least five people were hospitalized and transferred to intensive care.

The huge fire was at the secret Second Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in Tver.

Some military scientists jumped from the upper floors to escape the intense heat and flames.

Reports at the time reported “toxic bluish-black smoke.”

The institute plays a central role in the design of the Iskander missiles used in the war in Ukraine and the Russian S-400 missile defense system.

It is involved in other “secret projects”.
