Brenda Edwards says she was with Jamal when he passed away
Brenda Edwards shed tears as she recalls being with her late son Jamal when he passed away.
The music stage star and Loose Women panelist, 48, appeared in her first TV interview today since the death of her son Jamal in February.
Speaking to Coleen Nolan, she was asked what she was doing and she replied, “I’m fine… I’m making the most of every day as it comes.”
Recalling the day he died, Brenda said: “One thing that I want to say is that I was with him and my sister was with him… so sudden and so unexpected he went into cardiac arrest.
“I felt a little at ease knowing that I was with him… it was a prospect I’ll never forget.”

Brenda revealed that she has a dedicated bedtime routine for her son to “keep her going”.
“I wake up in the morning and I say ‘good morning sweetie’ and ‘sleep well honey’ … doing so is what keeps me going… I feel his presence constantly. .
“I’ve always been a believer and that’s been a big consolation for me.”
Sharing the day of her funeral, Brenda said: “When we laid him to rest, it was really beautiful. When we looked up at the sky, we saw a ‘J’.”
Jamal is the founder of the online urban music platform SB.TV and his work in the music industry has led him to befriend a number of celebrities – including Ed Sheeran, Will.i. am, Professor Green and Rio Ferdinand.
After his death, Brenda wrote a statement and shared it with Good Morning Britain, which was streamed live by Susanna Reid.
“It is with the deepest sadness that I confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning from a serious illness. Myself, his sister Tanish and the rest of the family. His family and friends were completely devastated. He was the center of our world,” she shared.
She continued: “As we accept his passing, we ask for privacy to grieve this unimaginable loss. I want to thank everyone for the news. messages of their love and support.
“Jamal is an inspiration to me and so many people. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD.”
A host of Brenda’s Loose Women stars paid tribute to Jamal and vowed to support her, with Denise Welch writing: “My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can’t stand it. Jamal Edwards is a wonderful son and brother [sad face emojis]. ”

“I just heard the heartbreaking news that @jamaledwards has passed away,” Saira Khan wrote, “I am heartbroken for @brendaedwardsglobal and send her and her family my deepest condolences and prayers. @jamaledwards while filming a children’s show and taps into his humility and passion to help kids believe in his talent.”
