Weddings are expensive – and they seem to be getting more expensive every year.

Whether you’re having a small, intimate gathering or a large, open celebration, the costs add up quickly.

To stay on budget, a bride-to-be was looking for a photographer who would meet all of her demands for a $600 paycheck.

The woman was convicted of trying to do a professional job in 2022 at 1990s prices.

The ad shared on Reddit reads: “I’ve been shearing this for a month and didn’t find what I was looking for, someone help me.

Users claim their requests are reasonable but unattainable for the price

“VIDEOGRAPHER OR PHOTOGRAPHER for three to four hours who:

“Doesn’t charge me for posting my videos/images to social media or require me to tag them EVERY TIME I post them.

“There is no full payment required prior to the wedding date. I can pay a deposit but I will be happy to pay the balance as soon as I see you show up. Finally, I still have to trust you to produce a video, at least assure me you’re real and ready to work.

“Able to work within my $600 budget. If you charge a travel fee, service charge, and additional taxes that make my final payment $800, you’re going over my budget.

“Has some experience. If you only have two videos to show your work you are too inexperienced to do my wedding.

“I hope someone meets these criteria. Thank you for your help!”

Some doubt that she will ever pay the photographer

While most users agreed that their requirements were reasonable, others expressed shock at expecting such a service for just $600.

One user said: “I’m rather confused as to whether she wants a videographer or a photographer.

“A single person cannot do both at the same time, and just as importantly, they are very different skills.

“The fact that she doesn’t even understand what she wants means this ‘gig’ is going to be a nightmare for anyone who takes it at any cost.

“And because she doesn’t know what she wants, she’ll probably end up refusing to pay.”

Another user added; “What a nightmare waiting for it to happen. I think she wants a photographer and a videographer. For $600 she can’t get either of them.

“Most of the wedding photographers I’ve dealt with charge a fee to show up and shoot the wedding, and then you buy the photos.

“Sometimes they’ll throw a certain packet of photos in the first cost, say one 8×10, four 5x7s, eight 4x6s. But you buy the fancy albums and most of the photos afterwards. You also have to pay extra to get all the pictures.

“She won’t pay. You can tell she has already spoken to a few photographers because she was aware of the potential travel expenses.”

From experience, one user said, “My dad is a wedding photographer, and a good one at that. He’s asking for between £1,100 and £2,500 depending on the circumstances.

“You won’t find a decent photographer for this price.”

Another added: “That’s what my wedding photographer asked for in 1994.”
