Netflix’s much-anticipated Bridgerton stars looked sensational as they stepped out on the red carpet tonight.
New heroine Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma, ditched her Regency clothes and revealed her navel in a black lace top, revealing black trousers underneath.
Her glossy black hair is shoulder length and she adds a subtle nude lip and smoky eye shadow to complete her look.
The actress behind Kate’s sister, Edwina, Charithra Chandraran, wore an off-the-shoulder top.
She wore her hair in a low ponytail and added red lipstick to match the flowers on her white dress.
While Golda Rosheuvel, who plays the formidable Queen Charlotte, lives up to her regal personality with a green gown embellished over a white floor-to-ceiling gown..
She wore dark gray eyeshadow and added a pair of oversized diamond earrings to complete her stylish look.
World away from her Prudence Featherington character, Bessie Carter opted for a silver wrap dress with a bold slit that ran up one leg.
She tied her curly hair atop her head, allowing the individual waves to flow down around her face.
Fans will be able to fix the 18th century scandal this week after season two returns.
The second part follows Lord Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest of the Bridgerton siblings, as he sets out to find a suitable wife.
The film was met with mixed reviews ahead of the second series, with critics warning that it was not as powerful as its predecessor.
But the show’s creator Chris van Dusen defended the lack of profanity, adding that they refused to do sex scenes for the sake of it.
“For us it was never about quantity,” he explains. “Our approach to intimacy on the show is really the same as season 1.
“And we use these intimate scenes to tell a story and push the story forward. We’ve never done a sex scene just for the sake of doing a sex scene, and I don’t think they do. I will do that.”
“There’s a lot of sensuality in the look throughout the room and the hands graze and the fingers are almost touching. You can really feel it from episode to episode and you know that when they do. Once we get there, the climax – if you will – will be well-deserved.”
He explained that Daphne played by Phoebe Dynevor and Simon played by Rege-Jean Page are “very different characters”.
Simone Ashley, who plays Kate, agrees: “It makes sense for these characters because they’re very protective of their families and very honest with their duties and responsibilities.
“For them breaking that wouldn’t make sense. The sex scenes have a meaning behind them – they’re highly earned when the fireworks happen.”
The presenter revealed that he would be giving up on season three, explaining that it was time for “he had to move on”.
Bridgerton received a refresh for seasons 3 and 4 last April and is expected to continue adapting Julia Quinn’s book series.
The new series will follow the love life of Anthony, Phoebe’s brother, who is responsible for maintaining family obligations and getting married.
According to a Netflix press release: “Anthony’s search for a debut actor who met his impossible standards seemed futile until Kate and her sister Edwina Sharma arrived from India. “.
Ahead of the premiere, Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Queen Charlotte on the show, said viewers will be able to discover more about the royal’s “traumatic relationship”.

She told the Express: “I think her love story is clearly with her gorgeous, gorgeous husband, who is going through some deep trauma.
“You know, we could have written a one-dimensional character who has gorgeous wigs and pretty wigs and goes to the ball and chats.
“But you can see her humanity.
“You see her vulnerability in those scenes and you know, to play an actress, it’s all because you want to play a completely well-rounded character.”
