Brighton Age UK launches support service for grieving adults

A SERVICE is being launched to offer counseling and support to grieving adults.

The support service is designed to provide practical help with tasks such as paperwork and funeral planning and is open to anyone over the age of 50, regardless of how long ago the bereavement happened.

Age UK offers various forms of support, ranging from counseling services to cooking classes, to help people get back on their feet after the death of a close friend or relative.

Rowan Hillier, senior development manager at Age UK in West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, said: “We want to be there when people need someone to turn to so they don’t feel isolated in their grief.

“Our new service is convenient and helps people based on their individual needs. In addition to assisting with things like registering a death and planning a funeral, it also helps people bounce back from the shock of bereavement and learn skills they may need when their loved one, often a partner , has died.”

The service, which is due to launch on Monday October 3, is now open to recommendations. For more information email or phone 08000 191310. Brighton Age UK launches support service for grieving adults
