Brighton and Hove Taxi caught fire near Southwick

A taxi caught fire.

Emergency services were called to the fire on Old Shoreham Road, near Southwick, around 11.30am on Wednesday 3 August.

Firefighters were photographed fighting the blaze with hoses.

Images show a fire engine at the scene, with firefighters spraying the Brighton and Hove taxi with water.

A bystander said: “The fire brigade have just arrived and so have the police.

“There is a huge traffic jam on both sides of the road. The taxi caught fire and then the car parked in the driveway.”

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “We have been called to a vehicle fire in Old Shoreham Road, Southwick. The fire department reported it to us around 11:40 a.m.

“Police are providing assistance during a temporary road closure.”
