Brighton are heading to Portugal for an ‘important work week’

The senior team is based in Portugal and has now been joined by a host of players who were on international duty earlier in the summer.

Potter said the 0-0 draw with Royale Union St-Gilloise was more than just a fitness exercise.

But it also served to get rid of a few “spider webs” after the closed season.

Albion’s head coach told The Argus: “You can learn a lot about each player and then see how things work from a tactical point of view and what the relationships are like between different players.

“But basically it’s the first game for a while and you just have to get the cobwebs off, get into the rhythm and we’ll build on that in Portugal.

“It’s an important week for us and we’re looking forward to it.”

Albion fielded 23 players on Saturday, but there are a few more who will be joining this week.

Potter said, “Yes, Moises [Caicedo]alexis [Mac Allister]Shane [Duffy]Lion [Trossard]Enock [Mwepu]rob [Sanchez]but Kaoru Mitoma couldn’t play so we still have some options in the week.”
