The Artist’s Edition Pride bottles, which will go on sale this summer, feature artwork by Dave Pop!
Gin lovers can collect two different designs on 700ml Pavilion Strength bottles, each numbered and signed by the artist.
David Pop! is a Brighton-based artist specializing in bright, bold pop art.
The former chocolatier held his first solo exhibition, Wonderful Darling, at Brighton’s Brush Gallery.
He has exhibited at the Theater Royal and Palace Pier and is inspired by pop art stars Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Jeff Koons.
Inspired by Brighton’s bold seafront and bright lights, Dave uses vintage fairground-style art and carousel horses in his work.
He created a large-scale mural at the train station to greet visitors, and his unique style can be seen across the city.
“I chose merpeople for my Pride label design because they go perfectly with my sassy coastal style and there are tattoo parlors on every corner in Brighton,” said Dave.
“The slogan ‘Cheers Queers’ was an obvious choice to celebrate Pride’s wonderful diversity.”
Each year Brighton Gin partners with an LGBTQ+ artist to showcase their work and raise money for the Brighton Rainbow Fund, the Brighton and Hove based support fund for local LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS organisations.
Ten percent of the proceeds from each bottle are donated to the Rainbow Fund.
Released as a first edition of 500 bottles in each design and individually signed and numbered by the artist, each bottle is a unique miniature work of art.
Kathy Caton, founder of Brighton Gin said; “I’m blown away by Dave Pop’s work.
“These bottles embody the spirit of Brighton and everything we stand for and love about the city.
“After several years of canceled Prides due to the pandemic, I love the celebratory quality of its design and its fabulous ‘Cheers Queers’ tagline.
“We are extremely proud of our track record of giving back to our community and are excited to once again support the Rainbow Fund by raising vital funds to support LGBTQ+ grassroots organizations in our city.
“Dave Pop! Brighton Gin 40% Pavilion Strength, our original handcrafted British gin, comes in Artist’s Edition Pride Limited Edition bottles.
“Super smooth, clear and bright in the glass, the subtle notes of juniper and lingering hints of orange make this gin smooth and approachable.
“Brighton Gin is Britain’s first vegan certified gin. It is handcrafted in Brighton by a small team committed to making a positive contribution to their community and building an ethical global brand.”
The limited edition bottles are available in independent stores across Sussex and online.
