Graham Potter has praised “top pro” Marc Cucurella as he continues to answer questions about the left-back’s future.
Albion continue their preparation for the season and play a friendly in Estoril tonight (18:30 CEST).
The debate about their left-back briefly flared up again this week.
But Potter says there was a sense of calm as the team worked just outside Lisbon.
The Seagulls head coach told Sky Sports: “He was himself.
“He trained really well. He is a popular member of the group.
“Everyone loves him, so he’s just been training and playing normally.
“It’s part of being a footballer that you have to deal with the speculation out there.
“It’s not something you can control.
“He was a top pro and was just training and part of the group.”
Suggestions Manchester City could step in for Cucurella are likely to increase if they sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal.
But that seemed a long way off last night.
Potter said: “We’re pretty calm across the board about the squad we have, the options we have.
“We’re not sitting in a panic, we’re just trying to prepare.”
