Brighton: Eastenders star, comedy and theater this weekend

After leaving the blue days of January behind, many events take place across the city on the first weekend of February.

From comedy to live music, and football to theatre, The Argus has put together a packed calendar for this weekend.


Brighton vs Bournemouth

The Seagulls meet south coast opponents AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League when the whistle blows on Saturday.

Just over 30,000 fans will descend on the Amex Stadium at 3pm to watch the game against relegated Bournemouth.

Heide peace

Comedy actress Heather Peace performs tracks from her newly released album This Love on Sunday February 5th.

She will take the stage after 18 months of filming at the intimate Chalk venue in Pool Valley. She joined the BBC soap Eastenders in 2021 as Eve Unwin.

She said: “I’m looking forward to playing in front of a live audience again.

“It will be good to be in the same room with everyone again and belt out the tunes with my band. I can barely wait for it.”

Ben Hemsley

Newcastle dance DJ Ben Hemsley will spin the decks at The Arch on Saturday.

He will play at the club between 11pm and 5am.

A spokesperson for Beatport, a leading electronic music store, said: “Ben Hemsley is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting new talents in the house music world with enticing melodies and flavors of old-school rave nostalgia.”

Vintage kilo sale

Fans of retro clothes can snag a new fit by the kilo at Saturday’s Vintage Kilo Sale.

Between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., the Bartholomäuskirche is transformed into a hall full of 9 tons of vintage clothing.

Entry is £2 and a kilo of clothing is £20. You choose and mix your clothes off the rack and pay by weight at the end.

Forge Comedy Club

Tripadvisor’s number one comedy club opens its doors on Saturday to a groundbreaking line-up featuring Connor Burns, Javier Jarquin, Stephen Amos and MC Mark Olver.

Founded by award-winning comedian Stephen Grant, the comedy club has hosted acts such as Romesh Ranganathan, Russell Kane and Joel Dommett in the past.
