Neal Maupay’s immediate future remained unclear yesterday as Albion prepared to visit one of his most prolific away territories.
The France striker appears ready to join Nottingham Forest for around £15million.
It seems extremely unlikely he will be there on Sunday when the Seagulls travel to West Ham, where he has scored in each of their last two visits.
Promoted Forest continued their signing spree by taking over Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves for an initial £25million.
But their boss, Steve Cooper, suggested they weren’t done yet.
Cooper said at a press conference: “Certainly we want to strengthen some areas in all lines across the field, but it’s the right player and character that suits the way we work.
“That’s what we stand for.
“We feel like we’re at the end of some things and hopefully we can complete the process of getting them through the door.”
Fulham are said to have been keen on loaning Maupay.
But Premier League rules would require them to convert Shane Duffy’s existing loan into a permanent deal.
Everton are also said to be interested in Maupay.
Salernitana, who had been chasing him, has now loaned striker Boulaye Dia on loan in view of a full transfer from Villarreal.
Meanwhile, prominent Spanish football director, agent and TV presenter Jose Antonio Martin Otin, better known as ‘Peton’, has claimed Albion have their eye on Getafe’s 6ft 2in center forward Enes Unal, despite not being from England or Madrid gives a confirmation of it.
