ALBION fans cheered after Leandro Trossard scored a hat-trick in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
The Belgian made a dream debut for new coach Roberto De Zerbi, scoring twice in the opening 17 minutes against a ragged defence.
Roberto Firmino’s brace on either side of half-time and an Adam Webster own goal seemed to give the Seagulls heartbreak.
Trossard never stayed in the spotlight, however, becoming only the third opponent to score a hat-trick at Anfield in the Premier League.
He also ended a 42-year wait for an Albion hat-trick in the top flight.
After the game, De Zerbi said he was “very proud” of the result at Anfield.
He said: “We played a very good game. We had the opportunity to score more goals. I know it’s my first game in the Premier League but I know Anfield, I know the difficulties at this stadium.”
The draw with Liverpool keeps Albion fourth in the Premier League, behind only Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham. Liverpool are currently in ninth place.
FiveThirtyEight predictions currently give the Seagulls a 27 per cent share of the Championship, with a one per cent chance of winning the Premier League this season.
