Brighton Fish and Chip shops nominated for national award

A fish and chip shop has been voted one of the best in Britain at the National Fish and Chip Awards.

The owners of Hove-based Bankers and Eastbourne’s Churchills were recognized as one of the top three companies in the Best Multiple Operators category.

The Chesterford Group, which also owns fish and chip restaurants on the south coast, has been nominated for the award as it prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

Group Managing Director Paul Goodgame said: “After a very difficult year for the fish and chips industry with record high fish prices and rising inflation, it’s great to receive some positive recognition for our team who have worked incredibly hard to… Keeping fish and chips at the heart of our communities and the nations favorites.”

“Next year we will be celebrating 100 years in Fish and Chips – what better way to celebrate than to be crowned Britain’s Best Multiple – fingers crossed.”

The group operates five restaurants in Brighton and Sussex including the Bankers restaurants on Western Road, Brighton and Hangleton Road in Hangleton.
