Brighton Leisure Center closed due to power outage in Whitehawk

A LEISURE center had to close due to widespread power outages.

The Stanley Deason Leisure Center on Wilson Avenue in Whitehawk, Brighton has been forced to close due to a lack of electricity.

Brighton and Hove City Council tweeted that “we had to close the Stanley Deason Leisure Center tonight due to a power cut”.

The leisure center’s website states that the site will be closed “until further notice”.

The council added that outdoor pitches are open until sunset.

The closure is part of a series of problems that have emerged from an “explosion” at a substation that left up to 800 people without power for some time.
