Brighton man jailed for child sex offenses


A MAN has been jailed for sexually abusing children and making videos of incidents involving a child.

Lloyd Collins, 30, of Montpelier Road in Brighton, has pleaded guilty to 11 offenses, all committed in the city, including having sex with a girl, assaulting a teenage girl by beating and making and possessing indecent videos and still images of a child .

He also admitted possession of cannabis with intent to supply and a racially aggravated assault on a police officer.

The unemployed Collins was sentenced today by Chichester Crown Court to a total of 15 years and will serve at least nine years in prison, with a further six years to be served under supervision under a parole licence.

He also received life restraining orders barring any contact with his two victims, and a sexual violence prevention order that severely restricted his access to children and digital communications devices.

He will also be a registered sex offender for life.

Prosecutors were following an investigation, Operation Oakgrove, by officers from the Brighton and Hove Safeguarding Investigations Unit.

Detective Constable Elaine Welsh said: “I’ve been working on this case for four years. During that time, Collins has shown no remorse or responsibility for the offenses committed.

“He sought out teenage girls at the most vulnerable times in their lives, as they were estranged from their families and trying to find their way in life. He wormed his way into her life and provided her with alcohol and drugs.

“He tried to cause maximum trauma and suffering. Despite this, these young women have supported this investigation and shown the utmost dignity and determination.

“They moved on with their lives and will move on and recover.”
