Brighton named the most sustainable city in England


Research conducted by travel booking site Omio found that the city has the widest range of vegetarian and vegan restaurants

It was also one of the top places in terms of the number of charging stations for electric cars, car sharing, low bus fares and low levels of pollution.

Newcastle was close behind in second, ranking in the top 5 cities for low pollution and number of cycle routes.

Of the cities assessed, Milton Keynes and Hull had the cheapest single bus tickets at just £1 compared to £2.40 in Nottingham, Wolverhampton and Walsall.

After London, according to the Zap-Map, Nottingham and Coventry occupied the best places for electric cars with the most charging points in the cities.

And after London, Bristol has the most cycle routes within five miles of the city centre. In terms of air pollution, Coventry, Plymouth and Bolton emerged as the cleanest, while Liverpool overtook London as the most polluted city, according to Omio research.
