Brighton net world record transfer from Chelsea to Graham Potter

The Seagulls are set to transfer an unprecedented £22million from Chelsea for the services of Graham Potter and his team.

That follows the £62million they picked up from the west London club for Marc Cucurella, a world record for a full-back.

The money raised for Potter and his team may give Albion more license to pay a replacement fee for an otherwise contracted replacement – or offer a more attractive financial package.

Chairman Tony Bloom is considering what will be only his second managerial appointment since he asked Chris Hughton to stave off impending relegation from the Championship nearly eight years ago.

The sum received for Potter exceeds the £17.4m paid by Bayern Munich to RB Leipzig for Julian Nagelsmann last year.
