Pervis Estupinan has been backed as potentially good for the Premier League – as he remains on course for a move to Albion.
The Ecuadorian left-back is expected to finalize a deal that will pick him up from LaLiga club Villarreal.
He was an unused sub in their opening league game amid uncertainty about his future.
Estupinan is set to help Albion fill the void left by Marc Cucurella’s move to Chelsea.
The fee is likely to be similar to the £15m Cucurella brought from Getafe last year.
Albion were reportedly keen on Estupinan when he joined Villarreal from Watford two years ago.
Since then, the now 24-year-old defender has helped the Yellow Submarine win the Europa League and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Former Valencia and Albion star Vicente told The Argus: “A good player! He’s physically strong and I think he could make a good contribution in the Premier League because of that.
“I’ve seen him a lot at Osasuna and Villarreal. He’s an interesting player, a good replacement (for Cucurella) and not bad technically.”
