Brighton Park Run has to be canceled due to ‘travellers’

A PARK run had to be canceled for safety reasons after trailers and other vehicles turned up at one of the city’s largest public parks.

The Vitality Park Run is normally held every Saturday at 9am in Preston Park, but organizers have decided to cancel the event due to “travellers in the park”.

They said: “You are not on the track, but there are so many vehicles and quads driving dangerously that we do not dare to continue.”

Passers-by described seeing people “bombing around the park on quad bikes,” with a man being seen “zooming around on a motorbike while carrying a baby in one arm.”

At least 30 trailers and other vehicles were seen in the park.

A police spokesman said officers were working with the council to determine what steps should be taken.

He said: “We are aware of a number of vehicles that have arrived at Preston Park. We are closely monitoring the situation in consultation with the local authority to ensure the safety of the local community and determine what next steps should be taken.”

It comes just months after another group of caravans were parked in the park before being moved on by police. Brighton Park Run has to be canceled due to ‘travellers’
