Brighton player ratings after 0-0 draw against Newcastle

This is how the Albion players rated the 0-0 draw against Newcastle.

As a team they got better and better as the game progressed and looked stronger than their guests in the exhausting conditions.

ROBERT SANCHEZ 7/10

Hasn’t been tested as much as expected but has done what is needed reliably enough.

JOEL VELTMAN 8/10

Prevented the unthinkable in the second half with his magnificent free kick in front of goal. Very reliable and measured on defense and on the ball – and almost saw an effort creep in in the second half when he was left with no choice but to shoot.

LEWIS DUNK 7/10

Had to watch out for Wilson’s pace and movement and got through that test clean sheet.

ADAM WEBSTER 7/10

Generally good on defense and handling the ball. He got away with an obvious misjudgment in the first half.

ONLY 8th/10th MARCH

It’s so unfortunate not to be the match winner, underscoring the positions he came into from full-back. Enjoyed his argument with Burn and appeared to unnerve Joelinton.

ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER 7/10

Another really hardworking performance and grew more and more influential in the second half. Passes the ball well and gets the team moving but shooting needs improvement.

MOISES CAICEDO 7/10

Sometimes brilliantly fought for the ball, sometimes not used so well. Covers the ground deceptively quickly and is the centerpiece of many things.

LEANDRO TROSSARD 6/10

Shot from a tight angle at the keeper and threat that led to nothing really worth mentioning. Can attract defenders but it wasn’t his most productive day.

PASCAL BIG 6/10

He ran relentlessly and was committed to an Albion side who were creative in the second half. But he’ll rue the big late chance that missed and may have also shot when he tried to knock off Welbeck.

ADAM LALLANA 7/10

Twice rejected by Pope but could feel headless chance in particular has been buried. Very lively in an attacking midfield role.

DANNY WELBECK 7/10

The center of attack again and helped bring others into play.

SUBS-ENOCK MWEPU 7/10

Appeared in attacking areas on both sides, used the ball well and got into some dangerous positions.

TARIQ LAMPTEY N/A

Sending wide right and was a decent exit without really creating the danger that could have been expected.

KAORU MITOMA N/A

A sensation on the left with direct wing play and skillful passing. His work should have led to at least one goal.
