Evan Ferguson has signed a long-term contract – on his 18th birthday.
Ferguson has not been involved in recent matchday squads but has been in fine form for the Under-21s and head coach Roberto De Zerbi is aware of his potential.
De Zerbi said: “I’m delighted that Evan is dedicating his future to Brighton.
“I’ve only been working with him for a few weeks but I see his potential. I’m really looking forward to working with him and helping him progress.”
Albion spotted Ferguson playing for the Bohemians in Dublin and have been promoted from the Under-18s.
Technical Director David Weir added: “Evan is a great example of the recruitment and academy process we have here at the club and it is a credit to those who have already played such an important part in his career.”
