ALBION striker Andi Zeqiri is moving to the Swiss Super League FC Basel for a season.
Pathway Development Manager Gordon Greer told the club’s website: “Having been promoted to the Swiss national team, Andi would like to play football regularly ahead of this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
“We can’t guarantee that for him here, so this move gives him the chance to do that while continuing his development at the same time.
“We wish him all the best for the new season and will monitor his progress throughout the season.”
The Switzerland international spent last season on loan in the German Bundesliga at FC Augsburg, where he made 19 appearances and scored two goals.
He joined Albion after a successful season in his home country, scoring 22 goals in 37 games in all competitions as Lausanne rose to the Swiss top flight.
Andi made his Premier League debut against Sheffield United in December 2020 before scoring his first goal for the club in a Carabao Cup win over Cardiff City the following season.
With over 100 career appearances, Zeqiri has represented Switzerland in the youth ranks from U15 to U21 before making his senior debut in September 2021.
