Brighton striker Neal Maupay is likely to join Everton

Neal Maupay is likely to make a move to Everton.

The Argus was told this morning that his potential move to Everton remains “ongoing” but “is likely to happen”.

Everton boss Frank Lampard said today he is looking at attacking options.

Maupay was linked with the Toffees for a period of almost two weeks, during which Nottingham Forest and Fulham also reported they were close to signing him.

Lampard declined to speak specifically about Maupay when questioned this morning.

He said: “We want to step up, that’s clear.”

When asked if he was looking for more than one striker, he said: “We will see the attacking options.

“We may have few attack options, especially with the five submarines you can use now.

“We’re going to see squads that are full of players, either starters or really good options, and we want to look around in that area.”

Maupay has yet to play for Albion in the Premier League.

The Frenchman also missed out on the midweek Carabao Cup tie at Forest Green.
