Albion striker Neal Maupay is wanted on a Serie A club as the new Premier League season approaches.
The Frenchman is among Salernitana’s interesting strikers who somehow avoided relegation last season after counting on relegation certainty for most of the season.
They’re keen to build on that late-season revival and need to step up their attack.
Albion have received an offer for the forward which is said to be £15million, according to The Athletic.
Recently appointed Salernitana sporting director Morgan De Sanctis is said to be an admirer of Maupay.
He also had his eye on Krzyzstof Piatek at Hertha Berlin, Boulaye Dia at Villarreal and Arkadiusz Milik at Marseille.
Maupay lost his starting spot with Albion in the last eight games of last season.
But he scored twice and looked lively in last week’s friendly win over Estoril, playing just behind Danny Welbeck in a two-man attack.
An Argus contact in Salerno said: “Confirmed. De Sanctis likes him. He’s one of the list.”
That night there was no indication that Albion would be ready to let Maupay go.
