Brighton to Lewes trains were disrupted because a lorry ran onto the bridge
A truck crashed into a railway bridge, delaying trains throughout the evening.
The lorry is believed to have scratched the roof of the railway bridge between Falmer and Moulsecoomb, leading engineers to worry about damage to the bridge.
The trains drove across the bridge at reduced speed.
In a tweet, Southern Rail said trains between Brighton and Lewes will take longer than normal to reach their destination.
Customers have been advised to allow extra time for journeys on the route as trains are expected to be delayed.
⚠️A truck hit a railway bridge in the Falmer/Mousecoomb area. As a result, services will run across the bridge at reduced speeds.
⏰ This is causing delays on services between Brighton and Lewes in both directions. You can travel as usual, but please allow a little more time.
