Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister is praised for his midfield displays

Alexis Mac Allister has been hailed as a coaching dream as he plays a key role at Albion.

The Argentina international has impressed in a deep berth alongside Moises Caicedo against Estoril Praia and Reading.

Your understanding in this area could help offset Yves Bissouma’s departure to Tottenham.

Head coach Graham Potter was impressed by what he saw.

After reading the game, he told The Argus: “Very exciting to be honest. I really liked Alexis.

“His longer passing game is the area where he can improve today but I think he has that in his ability.

“But I thought they were really well balanced.

“The positional play was good, especially with Alexis.”

Mac Allister has played a variety of roles at Albion, including being the wrong No9 in the first half at Tottenham last season.

Potter said: “He wants to play central.

“I think he’s one of those players who can play in any of the central positions.

“He can play as a six, an eight, a ten and probably his biggest trait is his understanding of the game, his understanding of the game.

“Once you have that, you can play pretty much anywhere.”

Potter believes the 23-year-old is up to the physical demands of the role.

He added: “You can see the physicality of him.

“He can tackle, he wins the ball, he can run, he can do anything in midfield.

“He is a real asset for us.

“He played against West Ham there at the end of the season in the second half.

“That gives us chances.

“Just from a manager’s point of view, he’s a bit of a dream because he can just get the role, understand football really well and get along with it.”
