Brighton’s Carl Rushworth joins Lincoln City on loan

Albion goalkeeper Carl Rushworth has joined Lincoln City on loan this season.

It was reported he was close to joining Liam Rosenior at Derby.

Instead, Rushworth heads to his league rivals at Sincil Bank.

He shone on loan at Walsall last season, having previously played at Worthing.

Imps head coach Mark Kennedy said: “He’s an outstanding goalkeeper with all the qualities to play at the highest level and had a really impressive first loan in the EFL last season.”

Rushworth is currently part of the England U21 squad.

Ben Roberts, Albion first-team goalkeeping coach, said: “Lincoln represent a new challenge in a team that has a long history of developing goalkeepers on loan.

“It’s a step up in terms of the split in the EFL and Carl will enjoy that.”
