Brighton’s Club Revenge ‘one of the best gay bars in Britain’


Club Revenge at Old Steine ​​in Kemp Town, Brighton was ranked tenth in a list of the top LGBTQ+ bars in the country in a study by The Bottle Club.

Opened in 1991, the nightclub scored highly for its Instagram following and hashtag count on the social media platform.

The report comes after Brighton was ranked as the best LGBTQ+ party destination in the UK, scoring highly for its safety and offering peace of mind to those looking to express their identity in peace and harmony.

A spokesman for The Bottle Club described Club Revenge as “the ultimate party destination, where you can go crazy on the dance floor and feel safe from start to finish.”

He said: “As well as providing the best LGBTQ+ events for Brighton’s community, Revenge actively supports local and national charities and has raised thousands of pounds for charities including Brighton and Hove Pride, Terrence Higgins Trust, Stonewall, Brighton Women’s Centre , Brighton University and the University of Sussex LGBTQ+ Student Unions.”

The study comes just days before Pride celebrations return to the city after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with Christina Aguilera set to headline Preston Park over the weekend.

The Bottle Club also listed four of the city’s other gay bars as the best places in Brighton and Hove to enjoy the festivities.

Charles Street Tap in Marine Parade, Kemp Town, was praised for its “award-winning cabaret, craft beers and incredible gins” and Legends Bar, also in Marine Parade, was described as “a great place to sip a coffee and… enjoy a drink’, grab a bite to eat or just sit back and enjoy the panoramic sea views from Brighton’s largest terrace bar any time of the day.”

The Affinity Bar on St James’s Street was recognized by the study as a gay-owned business and in support of Brighton’s LGBTQ+ community as a whole, and The Queens Arms in Kemp Town was named the best spot for cabaret.

“You won’t have a hard time finding a dazzling array of terrific characters on stage,” said The Queens Arms spokesman.
