Joel Veltman has hailed Ivan Toney as the Premier League forward who most impressed him last season.
But he’s confident Albion can continue to thrive under their new boss if they literally stay together.
The Seagulls are chasing a first win under Roberto De Zerbi when they visit Brentford tomorrow (8pm).
Veltman and his fellow defenders will face off against Bees-Starman Toney.
The Netherlands international said: “He made it into the England squad and I think he deserves it.
“I think he’s the toughest opponent I’ve played against in the last year.
“He’s strong, tall, good on the ball.
“Usually big strikers don’t have the right technique, but he does.
“I love playing against him.
“But it’s the Premier League – Kane, Haaland. The strikers are always good.”
Veltman expects Albion to be a tight unit at the Gtech Community Stadium while De Zerbi’s game plan continues to take effect.
He added: “With the new gaffer he wants us to come over really quick, all the players close together.
“Then you have the triangles and more combination options with midfield.
“I think we did well most of the time.”
