Neal Maupay is believed to be at the top of Salernitana’s most wanted list – as the forward’s immediate future remains in doubt.
The Serie A team is known to be interested in Maupay.
The Argus was told by a well-placed source last week that the possibility of him moving on “still lingers” after a busy performance early in the Seagulls’ friendly against Brentford.
Salernitana draws a gap with two other key targets in attack, Inter’s Andrea Pinamoti and Hertha Berlin’s Krzysztof Piatek.
Now La Citta di Salerno has reported: “The #1 target is Maupay again.”
Albion appears poised to sell Maupay, but is in no particular hurry.
They added Deniz Undav to their attacking options this summer.
Preseason’s games have provided few clues as to who is behind Danny Welbeck and where in the pecking order.
However, the games have highlighted some similarities in how Undav and Maupay work.
Salernitana still needs several signings this month, which will limit their budget.
Their last friendly with Adana Demirspor was abandoned after a four red card brawl involving all 22 players.
