Brighton’s player ratings in the 5-2 win over Leicester

How Albion’s players were rated as individuals in a glorious team effort – apart from a few defensive glitches that made life more interesting.

Links was twice exposed in the first half but got up to save Barnes at 2-2. Not much action in the second 45.

Joel Veltman 7/10

A few early alarms in the back, but Albion eventually restored order. His winning of the ball was the origin of the third Albion goal.

Lewis Dunk 7/10

Caught by Tielemans’ pass on Leicester’s second goal and the defense didn’t look watertight in the first half. But after the break, the afternoon became much more straightforward.

Adam Webster 7/10

The pass was picked up by Leicester for an equaliser, but the defense regained confidence in the second half.

Solly 8th/10th March

I thought he scored but he did enough with his header to get Albion back on its feet while continuing to get into some great positions. Can you say he was excellent and lively but needed the finishing touches?

Alexis Mac Allister 9/10

Got through an afternoon of hard work in midfield despite being yellowed from the 12th minute. Defended a miracle goal from VAR but then played a major role in Trossard’s goal and his finish was sensational – not least a clever penalty.

Moises Caicedo 9/10

All midfield action covering huge areas even to the death and calming down to complete a perfect finish and make the 2-1.

Leandro Trossard 9/10

Back in the wing back lounger. He caused danger in the first half and was so composed with his finish that he restored the lead. His magic in forcing a penalty was also a highlight.

Enock Mwepu 8/10

A surprise starter perhaps, but strong, direct and calculating in his role for Albion’s second goal. Welbeck should have prepared an open goal in the second half. He has some intriguing qualities and his season may just be starting here.

Pascal Gross 8/10

So much clever work again with the ball and his movement and was only denied another goal by Ward’s save. Did Albion fans actually come up with a song for him?

Danny Welbeck 7/10

Chipped a shot at the roof of the web created by his own hard work. Looks full of ideas and energy.

Substitutes Deniz Undav, Pervis Estupinan, Billy Gilmour and Tariq Lamptey were all sent on with clear game wins. Brighton’s player ratings in the 5-2 win over Leicester
