Roberto De Zerbi has put in a lot of work to prepare for his ‘baptism of fire’ in the Premier League.
The new head coach has been watching Albion games and familiarizing himself with the squad he inherits from Graham Potter.
He will also be ready for his first game in a week’s time at Liverpool on Saturday.
De Zerbi joins Albion today despite the fact that many of his players are on international duty.
Albion’s Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman Paul Barer said: “We have to be realistic.
“When we first come to the Premier League and come with a staff who are new to the Premier League, we need to support them as much as we can.
“We also have to give him as much patience as possible.
“He has six games in October including Liverpool, Spurs, Man City and Chelsea.
“He’ll certainly have a baptism of fire and find his feet in the Premier League pretty quickly.”
Barber told TalkSPORT: “The only thing that struck me when I met him was how much knowledge he already had about us, the teams we’re going to play against – including Liverpool who are coming up soon – and our players .
“The detailed knowledge he has about where they play, what foot they use, their preferred position, what systems Graham has used them in.
“He’s done a lot of work and that really impressed us all.”
As well as Anfield, Albion are visiting Brentford and Manchester City next month.
They are at home with Tottenham, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.
