Brighton’s Steven Alzate joins Standard Liege on loan

Steven Alzate’s move to Standard Liège has been confirmed.

He will spend the season in the Belgian premier class.

All papers were signed on Tuesday before the transfer deadline in Belgium.

However, the deal required FIFA’s approval.

Alzate is yet to train with Standard so today’s game in St Truiden seems too early for him to make his debut.

Albion technical director David Weir said: “Steven’s options have been limited and it’s important for him to play regularly at this stage in his career.

“This move gives him the chance to regularly play senior football at a very good level at Standard Liège.

“Gordon Greer and the loan team will be watching his progress closely over the rest of the season and we all wish him well for the rest of the season.”
