Britain’s drivers with the most penalties on their driving license revealed

BRITAIN’S naughtiest drivers have been confirmed in a study based on DVLA data.

The study used the latest DVLA data on registered license holders per zip code area and compared it to the total number of penalty points per zip code to show where the ‘best’ and ‘worst’ drivers are.

The study was based on data from the DVLA

The study, conducted by Collingwood Insurance Services, found that 5% of UK drivers have points on their driving licence.

The ten postcode areas with the highest rates of penalized drivers are all in either West Yorkshire or Merseyside.

And Bradford has been found to be the city with the most heavily penalized drivers in the country, with five BD ZIP codes making up half of the top ten list.

L24 (Liverpool) has three times as many disadvantaged license holders as the national average – the most in any area surveyed.

Leeds was the third worst city for people with points, with around 14.3% of Leeds drivers showing them on their licence.

Overall, central London was found to have the lowest percentage of license holders with penalty points.

Three central London areas made the top ten list of places with the least penalized drivers: EC4V near St Paul’s Cathedral (0.0% have penalty points), EC4A in Holborn (1.8%) and WC2E at Covent Garden (2.0%).

The study also looked at where the most provisional licenses were and found that the areas with the “worst” drivers also had the most learners.

Two out of five license holders in L24 only have a provisional license (41%). Other areas at the top of the table have similar numbers of potential learners. For example, BD3 has 42% and LS9 has 35%.

The DVLA data also showed that one area of Guildford, GU13, has a preliminary license rate of 68%. Essentially, less than a third of all license holders in GU13 (32%) passed their test.

But Birmingham has been crowned the undisputed ‘Learner Driver Capital’ of the UK.

Three Birmingham postcodes had very high proportions of provisional license holders, including B4 (62%), B19 (50%) and B2 (50%). Britain’s drivers with the most penalties on their driving license revealed
