Britain’s Got Talent child star Hollie Steel is unrecognizable 13 years after the show

Hollie Steel, 23, has performed on cruise ships and self-released three albums. Hollie, who broke down in tears in the semifinals, opens up about PTSD on her social media

Britain’s Got Talent rising star Hollie Steel is unrecognizable 13 years after finishing sixth on the show.

Hollie, who was just 10 when she sang her heart for the nation, is now 23 and performing on Baneships.

She won over Simon Cowell in 2009 when she sang Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera.

The youngster forgot the lyrics to her song in the semifinals and burst into tears during the live show.

This prompted Bruce Forsyth to speak out against children participating in the show.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: “But I really think he should stop subjecting young children to the immense and potentially damaging pressure of appearing on national television, not only in front of a live audience but in front of four very harsh judges.”

“You can see that many of the adult performers find the experience traumatic, so what kind of emotional damage could it do to children who are largely there because of the ambition of their parents and teachers?”

After the show, she self-released three albums and starred as Louisa von Trapp in the 2011 musical The Sound of Music.

In 2017 she graduated from London College 2017 with a Diploma in Musical Theatre.

Then last year she played Frenchie in Grease aboard the Harmony of the Seas.

Taking to Instagram to share the news: “Eeek jetting to my favorite spot, the Harmony of the Seas tomorrow for 10 months. I’ll play Frenchy – she’s back! & Better than ever before.

“I realize how lucky I am to have this opportunity to return to the stage. I will do my best not to take any moment for granted.

“I can’t wait to see everyone shine at the things they love.”

She was exploring the world before the pandemic enforced mass travel bans.

The singer has also shared her experience with PTSD and is supportive of her followers who are also suffering.

Hollie was recently targeted by hackers and has called the police.
