BGT: Maxwell Thorpe revealed he had auditioned before

Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation Maxwell Thorpe is the new favorite to win this year’s ITV show.

Maxwell, 32, has been busking the streets of Sheffield for the past 10 years and finally took to the BGT stage last weekend.

On Saturday’s episode of the talent series, Maxwell wowed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams with her incredible vocals.

With the semi-finals coming next week, BetVictor offered the odds on what they thought would be this year’s Britain’s Got Talent Champion – and Maxwell has a good chance.

BetVictor spokesman Sam Boswell said: “This year has seen an impressive number of talent auditions for the family favorite talent show. It’s lovely to see so many people. engage, especially with what they’ve learned during the lockdown.”

“Maxwell Thorpe, who has been busking the streets of Sheffield for the past 10 years, is the current 10/3 favorite.

“He impressed the judges with a spectacular performance of Lucio Dalla Caruso, which received a standing ovation,” he continued.

“Born to perform and Tom Ball is still neck and neck, with both 4/1. Born to Perform was awarded the series’ Golden Buzzer by David Walliams after falling in love with the troupe after their inspirational performance of Hairspray’s ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’.

“Their incredible performance has received much praise as they cement their place among this year’s favorites.”

“The general second favorite is teacher Tom Ball from West Sussex. Since his dramatic audition, he’s been compared to Susan Boyle, so he’s definitely someone to watch. He’s currently the second most favorite player to win as the odds are 4/1,” added Sam.

The odds come in just a day after Maxwell revealed to Lorraine Kelly that he almost auditioned for the ITV show before the 2022 series, but changed his mind.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday, Maxwell confessed his horror about his audition was the same terror that has deterred him in the past.

Lorraine said to him: “I can’t believe it took so long to find you, for how many years have you been a busker?” to which he replied, “It would be 10.”

She continued: “I can’t believe no one has said come, but there have been some times where it almost didn’t, but do you feel this is the right time for you, are you ready for this? ?”

Maxwell told her, “Yes absolutely, definitely, yes. I think my priorities have changed, my perspective has changed, and I’m terrified of being on the show.

“I’m really, really scared, one time I’m going to come and then I can’t imagine being on the other side of the screen with Ant and Dec, and I just think you know, I’ll stay here , I. I’ll see that.”

Lorraine told him: “But this year is the right time, already the right time.”

Britain’s Got Talent continues at 8pm on Saturdays on ITV and ITV Hub.
