A woman believed to have become Britain’s youngest grandmother aged just 30 has hit back at trolls who have criticized her and her then-14-year-old daughter.

Kelly Healey spoke about becoming a young nan after her teenage daughter, Skye Salter, gave birth to son Bailey when she was 14.

And Kelly believes her own mother could be the youngest grandma in the country, as she was just 48 when the boy was born three years ago.

But the family have faced judgment and comment from trolls, who slammed Kelly for not teaching daughter Skye about birth control.

Mum-of-five Kelly told the Mirror she had spoken to her Skye about the birds and the bees, but the boy was not sexually active at the time.

Skye herself had no idea she was pregnant until she had been gone for more than eight months.

She only found out she was expecting while she was at the sexual health clinic to talk about birth control.

There she was given a pregnancy test which revealed the shocking news.

The young mum-to-be said she was stunned by the news and attended gym classes at school, unaware she was weeks away from becoming a parent.

Both mum Kelly and daughter Skye said they didn’t care what people said online about their lives after speaking out.

Skye, who turns 18 next month, said: “I knew it was coming but people have no idea what goes on behind closed doors.

“I don’t think about her. They didn’t know I existed a few days ago and I won’t worry about what they say, they don’t know me.

“I’m proud of myself and the mother that I am. You are not the one raising my child, I am.”

Skye said raising her young son has been difficult over the past three years, but it has been worth it.

“It was a struggle, but I just had to be the best version of myself for Bailey,” she added.

Mum Kelly, from Feltham, London, said her daughter is an amazing mother and she is proud of what she has achieved.

She said: “Skye is very mature for her age and she’s done amazingly well.

“She continued to go to school while I took care of Bailey.

“She got her GCSEs and hair and beauty qualifications, she’s doing really well on Tik Tok now and has thousands of followers.

“She wants to start her driving lessons and once Bailey starts school in September she wants to look at a job caring for disabled children.”
