British Airways has informed me that my flight has been cancelled

A PASSENGER implicated in the British Airways cancellations has said how he was told his flight was canceled – only so he could take off without him.
Marcio Mattos, 38, was scheduled to fly on British Airways Flight BA247 from London Heathrow to Buenos Aires yesterday.
He told Sun Online Travel: “I booked a flight to Buenos Aires yesterday at 10:05 p.m. with a stopover in São Paulo.
“At 11pm we were told the flight had been canceled and that we should wait for an email with further instructions on refund, accommodation and an eventual new flight.”
He then said not only did the email never arrive, but he was later told the plane wasn’t canceled – and did indeed take off.
He continued: “Today I received information from my travel agent that the flight actually took off without some passengers.”

“Right now, my travel agent can’t book me another flight because technically it wasn’t canceled, it was delayed.”
Accordingly Flight Radar24picked up the first connection of flight BA247, but the second connection between Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires was cancelled.
Marcio, who is originally from Brazil but was in the UK for a workshop, said he was forced to try to reach British Airways himself as the customer service queue was “crazy”.
He said he has no idea how much money he will have lost in the confusion as he is still waiting to hear everything including his “flight, hotel and food”.
Marcio added: “I understand there are technical issues and it’s acceptable.
“However, we had no information.
“No BA employee came up to us to say a word. I’m talking about at least a hundred people who went to Heathrow looking for information.
“The few BA staff we could find at the time just repeated the same mantra: wait for the email.”
A British Airways spokesman told Sun Online Travel that the second connection had to be canceled due to a pilot’s illness, while the first connection was operating from London – but passengers were not put on it to avoid being stranded in Sao Paolo.
They also confirmed that later in the day there would be a direct flight from the UK to Buenos Aires for passengers who missed their flight.
British Airways has More than 100 flights were canceled todaywhile Brits face travel chaos as they try to fly into an Easter break.
Most flights have been suspended after British Airways announced this reducing his schedule last week, flights affected until the end of May.
Only five of the cancellations were made at short notice due to Covid-related staff shortages, including routes to Paris and Oslo.

The airline was forced to do this Canceled flights last week due to an IT problem across the UK affecting nearly 100 flights.
But British Airways isn’t the only airline facing this Covid-related flight cancellations – easyJet grounded hundreds of flights yesterday due to staff shortages due to Covid, today around 100 more.
