A British tourist was allegedly raped by a taxi driver who took her to a remote location instead of her hotel before attacking her.
The woman, in her 40s, told police she was attacked after exiting a bar in Hersonissos on the Greek island of Crete in the early hours of May 31, reports have reported proto-theme.
She claimed the driver took her to a secluded area before raping her in the back of the vehicle.
The woman was then taken to a nearby hospital for a medical examination.
A 28-year-old man was reportedly arrested last week and released Friday pending further investigation.
He denies the rape allegation and claims the sex was consensual.
The report comes weeks after another British tourist was allegedly raped while on holiday in Corfu.
The woman was said to be in “poor condition” when she arrived at a local police station on the Greek island on May 14 to make the report.
She is said to have given the investigators a personal description, who immediately began searching and arrested a 40-year-old man.
He denied the rape and claimed he had sexual intercourse with the woman with her consent.
