Britney Spears’ lawyers have again urged a US judge to dismiss her father’s request that she interrogate herself amid the ongoing legal battle following the termination of her controversial conservatory.
Representatives for the pop star said Jamie Spears’ recent trials “demonstrated his intent to molest, hurt and re-traumatize his daughter,” and accused him of sinking to “a new low.”
It comes as Judge Brenda Penny is scheduled to make a decision on the matter on Wednesday.
Judge Penny recently ordered Mr. Spears himself to be removed and has questions about the singer’s alleged surveillance at her home.
Ms Spears’ lawyers previously said the move to give her testimony was “retaliation”.
In new documents filed on Tuesday and obtained by the PA news agency, lawyers said there had been “numerous misrepresentations of fact and law” in Mr Spears’ previous applications to the court.
“Mr. Spears’s has hit a new low by presenting the court with misleading ‘exhibits’ containing Ms. Spears’ private and confidential sealed information,” the documents read.
“Mr Spears’ recent file further demonstrates his intent to harass, harm and re-traumatize Britney Spears.
“As we have discussed, any affidavit, even (or particularly) with the so-called ‘options’ demanded by Mr. Spears (i.e. an ‘arbitrator’, which would be inappropriate) would in and of itself be harassing and traumatize Ms Spears again.
“For the reasons set out above and those on record, we respectfully propose that this court enter its preliminary ruling denying Mr. Spears’ motion to force Ms. Spears’ removal.”
