Rumer Willis showed her support for her father Bruce after it was announced earlier this week that the Hollywood legend was “retiring” from his career due to health reasons.

Bruce’s family said in a statement on Wednesday that the 67-year-old actor had been diagnosed with the condition aphasia – which has affected his cognitive abilities.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Bruce’s daughter Rumer, 33, shared a snap from her childhood and gushed about how she loved her “daddio to the moon and back.”

Rumer uploaded the snap, which showed her pulling a funny face alongside her father and sister Scout, 30, and expressed her admiration for her father, who she “taught me to be stupid”.

Rumer – the eldest child of Bruce and ex-wife Demi Moore, 59 – wrote: “Love you Daddio [moon] and back. Thanks for teaching me to be stupid. I love laughing with you.”

The post has garnered more than 60,000 likes on the social media platform, and some of her followers are taking to the comments section to send their well wishes to the family.

It comes after Scout – who appeared in flashback – posted a more recent photo to social media of herself and her father smiling at each other.

The model took the opportunity to say thank you for the support after the family spoke about Bruce’s health and retirement.

Scout said it was a “humbling” experience to discover how much love, support and prayers went straight to the family at such a difficult time for her.

The family made the announcement about the actor, whose films include Pulp Fiction and The Sixth Sense, in a joint statement on Instagram earlier this week.

They wrote: “To the amazing supporters of Bruce, we wanted to share as a family that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia which is affecting his cognitive abilities.

“As a result, and with much deliberation, Bruce is stepping down from the career that has meant so much to him.

“This is a truly challenging time for our family and we are so grateful for your continued love, compassion and support.”

Willis married actress Demi Moore in 1987 and had their three eldest children, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

The couple separated in 2000 but remained amicable and Willis married actress Emma Heming in 2009.

The couple also have two daughters together, Mabel and Evelyn.
