Some United fans believed Fernandes’ post is a confusing messagesuggests that the two defenders should play at centre-back in place of Maguire.
Fernandes, however, denied that theory and claimed the post was just a bit of fun.
“Honestly, I think people question everything at this club,” he said Premier League Production when asked. “Every week we have a new story about something.

“I posted a picture on Instagram where I was with Rapha and Eric and I said, ‘I feel very secure in the midst of these two.’
“Meaning, ‘security’ as if [someone] to them like my bodyguards. And people complained that I threw something at Maguire.
“But Maguire is not the only defender not in the picture. [Victor] Lindelof is not in the photo, Phil Jones is not in the photo.
“People want to complain and want to create stories around us, but the most important thing [thing] is that we stick together and do our job on the pitch.
“Obviously, people are really pleased with H because it’s been really difficult to be in his position in the last period. Honestly, we all had bad games.
“And when we didn’t win it wasn’t because H wasn’t playing well, or Bruno wasn’t playing well, it was because the whole team wasn’t playing well and wasn’t performing well.
“For us, the inside of the dressing room is not where we blame someone, it’s [to] understand how we get out of bad situations. “
Maguire, who scored in the 4-2 win over Leeds on Sunday, has endured a difficult campaign following England’s success at Euro 2020.

“He [Maguire] is our captain and I don’t see any reason to change that,” interim manager Ralf Rangnick said ahead of United’s win over Leeds.
“He’s also a player who has to grow and get better like all the other players.”
Maguire joined United from Leicester for £80m in the summer of 2019 but has yet to win a major title at club or international level.
Rangnick added: “The way we play now is new for him, also because in the England national team he is used to playing as a three-back and at Man Utd as a midfield player. 4 defenders”.
“But still not being proactive with that kind of defense when we tried and tried to defend.
“This is something new for him and it’s going to take some time for him to get used to that and adjust to that and here’s what I can say with that.”
